SESAC is the nation’s second oldest and fastest growing performing rights organization, dedicated to assisting both the creators of music and music users through timely, efficient royalty collection and music licensing. The company was established in 1930 as the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers to better serve European composers and writers whose works were being performed in the U.S. Over the course of its 72-year history, SESAC has grown to represent all genres of music in every territory in the world. Today, the company is known simply as SESAC.

SESAC is known for its diversified repertory that includes genres ranging from Adult Contemporary, Urban, Jazz, Rock, Americana, Contemporary Christian, Latin, Country, Gospel, Dance, Classical and New Age. SESAC is also rapidly becoming the performing rights organization of choice among many of Hollywood’s most sought-after film and television composers.

A leader in the use of cutting-edge technology to simplify and streamline the business of performing rights, SESAC pioneered the use of state-of-the-art Broadcast Data Systems (BDS) in the identification and tracking of music performances. Continually adopting the latest technology to track more thoroughly for its clients, SESAC tracks a truly comprehensive survey of music, guaranteeing SESAC’s writer and publisher affiliates the fastest and most accurate royalty payments.

Stressing quality over quantity, SESAC utilizes a selective process when affiliating songwriters and publishers. This screening policy has not only allowed SESAC to build a repertory of extraordinary quality, it also assures that SESAC affiliates receive an unmatched level of personal service and attention. SESAC’s wide-ranging roster of affiliates includes American musical icons Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond, award-winning jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson, country star Joe Nichols, exploding rock bands like Newfound Glory, the Ataris, Sparta, the Mars Volta and Trapt, the country’s hottest R&B/Hip-Hop writers, and some of Hollywood’s most successful composers.
